Matt began his life absorbed in golf and tennis. He played golf in high school, then changed sports for college when he played tennis under Coach Steve Snodgrass at Kansas State University. After a year playing varsity tennis at K-State, a near life-ending car accident, in which the doctors told him he would never walk again, became his primary testing ground. Instead of resigning himself to the sidelines, Matt recovered and went on to play three more years of varsity tennis at K-State. After graduation, he spent most of his career meeting the demands of the investment marketplace by matching clients with appropriate portfolios. Throughout, he continued his involvement with tennis and golf, teaching lessons in both sports in various cities and participating in tournaments himself.
In 2006 he became a USTA Referee and Official and began coaching girls’ tennis at Grand Island Central Catholic High School. He produced eight state champions and 10 collegiate players. In 2013, he was named Director of Tennis/Head Tennis Professional at the Grand Island Tennis Center, Grand Island, Nebraska.
Matt has won numerous tennis tournaments and played for USTA League teams in Kansas City and Omaha. He is the past President of the Grand Island Tennis Association, spearheading a fundraising campaign to refurbish and resurface four indoor courts. Along with that, he led the team who designed and secured funding for a six court tennis complex, a project completed by Renner Sports. Matt graduated from Kansas State University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, with an emphasis in Marketing. He currently calls two places home – Southport, North Carolina and Grand Island, Nebraska. He has a son, Ian, who is a sophomore in high school. Matt believes that enthusiastically matching people with great opportunities can be rewarding for all parties.
